Made for the people who show software on screen
One screen, plenty to make

More to make. Less to make it with.

Your next demo, tutorial or launch video is probably already on your screen. Shotbox turns it into something worth sharing.

Made for the feed

Built for the scroll.

Vertical 9:16 clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with captions and your brand on every one.

Who it's for

Whether it's your product or your client's.

Two kinds of people make most software videos. Shotbox is built for both.

⌘

Software teams

Founders, product marketers, dev advocates

Ship the release, then ship the video the same afternoon. Record the new feature once and Shotbox turns it into a launch video, a changelog clip and a vertical teaser.

  • Launch videos with zooms that follow every click
  • Onboarding and help-centre walkthroughs with captions
  • Release notes as GIFs and short clips
  • Bug reports with an annotated screenshot in seconds
✦

Freelancers & agencies

Video editors, studios, demo specialists

Your client sends a staging link and a style guide. You send back a polished, on-brand demo in every format they asked for, without uploading their unreleased product anywhere.

  • A brand file per client: logo, colours, font
  • Revisions next week: every edit is saved and reopens as you left it
  • Every deliverable: 16:9, square, vertical, GIF
  • NDA-friendly: blur the private parts, upload nothing
How it works

From staging link to finished demo.

No keyframing zooms by hand and no waiting on a cloud render. Shotbox does the tedious parts while you talk through the product.

1

Capture the moment

Open the app or staging site, press a shortcut and talk through it. Your script scrolls in a teleprompter that never shows up in the recording.

⌥⇧⌘5  to record
2

Make it yours

Zooms follow your clicks, the cursor glides, captions appear and the brand kit adds the logo, colours and titles. You only trim and adjust.

3

Send it out

MP4 or GIF for the website, YouTube, LinkedIn and vertical social. It renders on your own Mac at about three times real time.

⌘E  to export
Everything in one app

A screenshot tool, a recorder and an editor. Finally together.

An editor built around the timeline

Multiple tracks, transitions, split screen, titles, sound on its own lane, and undo for everything. You edit what you see in the preview, and the export looks exactly the same.

Unreleased products stay unreleased

Recording, transcription and export all run on your Mac. Speech recognition is on-device only, so nothing under NDA goes to a server.

  • Uploads
  • Accounts
  • Telemetry
  • Cloud render

Fix a fluffed take by editing text

Transcribe the recording on your Mac, then delete a sentence from the transcript to cut it from the video. A cut word can be put back with one click.

So this is the new dashboard, wait, let me start that again, and the first thing you'll notice is the revenue chart up top. Sorry, wrong tab. Click it to see every plan.

Screenshots for docs, decks and tickets

Area, window, full screen or a whole scrolling page. Add arrows, boxes, blur and a branded backdrop before you paste it into the help centre or the bug report.

A teleprompter that never appears in the video

Your script scrolls under the camera. It is left out of every frame you record.

Their brand on everything

Logo, colours and font, applied to titles, captions, backdrops and every export. Keep one brand file per client.

Shotbox Studio

The parts of video editing you'd rather skip, done for you.

Studio opens the moment you stop recording. It has the same layouts, zooms and captions you'd build by hand in a pro editor.

Captions people actually read

Transcribed on your Mac and timed to the word. Choose a style, drag captions anywhere in the frame, and fix a word by typing.

  • Word-by-word highlight styles
  • Your brand font and colours as a caption style
  • YouTube chapters generated from what you said

Bring the web into your video

Paste a link and Shotbox reads the page. Click a chart, a pricing table or a headline and it becomes a card in your video. Figures it finds can become big statistic cards.

  • Article layouts: overlay, banner, clipping
  • Social post cards, always showing where the post came from
  • The only time Shotbox goes online, and only when you ask

Teams that record demos close deals faster

Your camera, cut out

Remove the background behind you and pop out of the frame. Blur or pixelate anything private, and the blur stays on it as the page scrolls.

  • Camera cut-out and pop-out, prepared locally
  • Blur that sticks to what it covers
  • Draw on screen while you record
Built for client work

Five clients, five brands. No mix-ups.

Agencies and freelancers juggle several style guides and a lot of revision rounds. Shotbox keeps each client's look and each project separate, so you can pick any of them up again weeks later.

One brand file per client

Save each client's logo, colours and font as a single .shotboxbrand file. Import it to switch. You can also send it to whoever else edits for that client.

Old projects keep their look

A project keeps the logo and style it was made with. Change the active brand for a new client, and last month's video for another client still exports exactly as it did.

Lumen · Feature launchEdited 2 weeks ago
Halcyon · Sales demoEdited last month

Revisions without re-recording

Every edit saves as you go. When the client asks to cut a line or move a title, reopen the project and change it.

Hide what the client can't show

Blur emails, keys and customer names. The blur follows what it covers as the page scrolls.

The whole deliverables list

One recording exports as a 16:9 hero video, a square LinkedIn cut, a 9:16 teaser and a GIF for the docs.

Your content. Your Mac. Your rules.

Make content. Not compromises.

Not every product is ready for the public, and not every screen belongs on somebody else's server. Recording, editing, transcription and export all happen on your Mac, so unreleased work stays unreleased.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers.

Does Shotbox upload my recordings anywhere?

No. Recording, transcription, cut-outs and export all happen on your Mac. There is no account, no cloud library and no telemetry. Shotbox goes online for two things: a web page whose address you paste and ask it to bring into a video, and a subscription check about once a month that sends your licence key, a random ID for your Mac and the app version.

Can I use Shotbox for paid client work?

Yes. Commercial and client work are included in every subscription, on up to three of your Macs.

Can I keep each client's branding separate?

Yes. Save each client's brand kit as its own .shotboxbrand file and import the one you're working on. Projects keep the logo and style they were made with, so older work for other clients isn't affected when you switch.

Is it safe to record a product that's under NDA?

Shotbox has no cloud. Recordings, transcripts and exports stay on your Mac until you send them yourself. Blur and pixelate let you hide emails, API keys and customer data before anything leaves the editor.

Which Macs does it run on?

Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, in one universal app. Exports run at about three times real time on an M1 MacBook Air.

What happens if I cancel?

Shotbox keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for. After that it still opens and exports everything you made; it just won't capture, record or start new projects. Everything you made is an ordinary file on your Mac, so it stays yours, and you can subscribe again whenever you like.

Does it need to be online?

Only now and then. Paste your licence key once, and Shotbox checks your subscription about once a month after that. In between it works offline, and if it can't get through, it carries on for a week past the date you've paid up to.

How is this different from Screen Studio or Tella?

You get the polished recording and the editing you'd expect, plus screenshots, a teleprompter, camera cut-out, editing by transcript and brand kits, in one app for £5.60 a month. The difference is that Shotbox has no cloud: it doesn't make sharing links. You export a file and send it however you like, and nothing is uploaded on the way.

Can I use my own brand?

Yes. Set your logo, colours and font once in the Brand Kit. Teams can export the kit as a single file so everyone's videos match.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If a payment wasn't what you wanted, email us within 14 days of it for a full refund. Consumers also have legal rights, explained in our refund and cancellation policy.
